I agree In regards to the radio's he tuned that fell within the capabilities of his power supply. Until he upgrades his power supply, he should refer customers with larger equipment with an amperage draw greater than his power supply can handle to a tech with an appropriate power supply
Capable of delivering enough current to the station without a voltage drop to avoid an unhappy customer.

And I really want to know what is a sticky trans? Because transistors don't stick. -
In a badly designed Station Amplifiers have been known to stick in the keyed position because the person had no clue how to tune an amplifier or tune a radio to match an Amplifier. Maybe a more accurate term would be self Oscillation.
When it comes to Amplifiers it can be a dangerous game unless all your ducks are in a row.

Stick trans as in sticky transmit...It would not stop transmitting when unkeyed..
As for being mad, well im not happy with cb man by no means cause he is a lil on the fishy side anyways..I knew i might be getting a deal or junk..Thats why i took it to dtb..
Staples under the pills were there when the tech @ wolfmans took it apart..I watched the entire process.. -
I've been in that same position before and I've had the same problem with previous technicians. I no longer have those problems thanks to the technician that works on all of my stuff. Unfortunately if I need stuff worked on I have to ship it to thousand miles away but at least I know that my short term greater expense equates to a long term savings in expenditures.

Glad my tech is close............and he's forgot more than most know.

First paragraph deleted by request of mark Sherman
Watch "coax fundamentals" on YouTube
From what I've witnessed Mark Sherman is the only guy in the country that's figured out how to make class-C amps work properly. (In regards to 11 meter AM and excluding commercial broadcast applications)
David Bupp's small radios outperform his big radios. It doesn't make sense but it's true.Last edited: Jan 7, 2016

Ok someone correct me if im not seeing this right..Is he saying the coax itself makes the difference or the length is makeing the difference..I dont know electrical at all nor the ohms law...What exactly is he saying...
I need to learn more so i understand why im not getting more range..My mfj259b shows swr 1.1-1 to 1.1-3 across all 40..Not understanding the phase angle stuff but mine shows around 1.0 ish and co efficient of reflection is 24db on ch1 and high teens on ch 40..My impedence does go from low 50's to mid 60's the higher i go...No amp hooked up and running a stryker 955 with about 60-70 watts peak..Im running a cascadia with a 40"shaft that my single coil predator ant on a 6"shaft..All mounted to a mirror bracket almost like the wilson design you see for these trucks..I have 2-12" ground straps running fromdoor to cab....Wish the hell i could get a run to new mexico to visit mr fine tuning cb.. -
From what I've seen with cheap amp is they don't present a 50 ohm load to the transmitter.
