I agree dirt bikes are the way to start. I grew up with them....wish I still had that Honda trail 70 lol....that thing was freaking awesome and the coolest thing you could have as a kid in the early 80's. I raced motocross for years and have great bike control...hell I do better wheelies on my road King than most guys do on sport bikes but that still can't replace keeping your head on a swivel. I ride like everyone is out to kill me, may sound a lil extreme but it's worked so far. The only accident I've had (and it was bad) was on a empty back road in the middle of the night with drugs and alcohol involved. I know I'm a complete ### hole and deserved everything I got with that one but it really was a wake up call on safe riding. 80mph in a high traffic area with a lot of redlights like this dude.....no thanks. I'm not gonna try to lie here and put myself on a pedestal like I never do anything I shouldn't but this dude had NO reason to be going that fast there. I feel bad for our driver that has to live with the memory of a dead guy under his trailer forever now. From what my boss said it was pretty ugly. Dude went under the trailer and hit the battery boxes (we run lift gates). I don't wanna see anyone get hurt or die but my thoughts and prayers are more with my coworker on this one that it doesn't get to him.

I few years ago I was going south on I 35 (south of okc) when this HD low rider shot past me going well over 120 mph. He tried to shoot the gap between a suv and a box truck in front of me. He clipped the Tommy lift on the box truck... when I got stopped my truck was on the shoulder, my trailer was in the right lane. And he was laying about 5ft in front of my trailer tandems.. he was gone.

I have to lock this truck and trailer down tomorrow until out insurance company is done with it. Ughhhh. I'm not trying to insert myself into this mess at all and I hope all your thoughts and prayers are with the driver knowing he has to live with this from now on but I just don't wanna see it.... it's the ugly part of what we do and I don't like seeing this stuff.

Sad thing. Got to remember those people killed themselves..when they made the decision to drive or ride that way. Just sad and unfortunate when they pick our vehicle to do it with. Serious stuff that can't be undone.

A lot of assumptions being made here.

Nowhere is it mentioned of anyone doing 80 mph, no mention of a crotch rocket either.

Maybe the bike was a Harley, had a green light and was only doing 30 while the truck popped out to make a right turn on a red light.

It amazes me (not really) that with zero info many here assume it's the bikes fault and we should all feel sorry for the truck driver.

The link in post #7 is the best info I could find on the indecent.

The last sentence in the article says "No charges have been filed at this time".

It doesn't say who may or may not face charges but one thing is for sure, it's not the guy on the bike.

I hear you. The assumption though is that a respected member who happens to work with the truck driver has good info. He gets the benefit of the doubt.

Tampa Bay Times article states the motorcyclist was riding a Suzuki-which a majority of those on the road are crotch rockets!
