Trainers: I'm getting ready to go to orientation next Friday and can't seem to find a large duffel withOUT those two little wheels...... I have a medium duffel, but planned on bringing one more duffel: this one being "large"......if I don't have an issue with "sleeping with it" (the large duffel with wheels) is it ok to bring, OR do you suggest I just get one more "medium" duffel (they don't have wheels)
I've seen posts suggesting against bringing "suitcases with wheels" (those are BIG)...... But does that "suggestion" include large duffel bags also?
im just not trying to piss off a trainer before I even get in the guy's truck.

Most sporting goods stores have large duffle bags for around $30.
So does Amazon...

Duffle bags with wheels is the way to go if you plan on taking the bus.Just make sure it isn't too heavy to get it in the trainers trk.

2 large bags is too much stuff. I'd re prioritize what you're planning on bringing, and just bring the basics (1 week worth of clothes, 1 heavy jacket, 1 light jacket, 1 pair of tennis shoes, 1 pair of boots, sleeping bag, pillow). Anything else that you bring will just be in the way. Remember, training isn't forever. Once you get thru it and get your own truck, you can cram it full of all the crap you want.

The large duffel with wheels such as you find in walmart is perfect. That, a sleeping bag and maybe a smaller bag for shower stuff is all you should bring. The duffel fits nicely at the foot of the bunk.

Now that I know the large duffel is ok....I'll have room to put the sleeping bag in it (southwest allows 2 bags for no charge: if they aren't over 50 lbs each)Chinatown Thanks this. -

Glad you asked. I had to "Train" running team was what we were doing, He was alright for about a week. Don't take anything you can't get on a bus, or aircraft. Company knew he was unstable, but a decent trainer. Kept telling me he was an Accountant, did this for extra money. Dude was from the Bates Motel.
2 pairs of jeans, three shorts, shirts, shoes, socks. Kept telling me how his wife left him/24 7. I make miles not a shrink. Made him mad. Phone booth, this dude is nuts, toto take me home. Don't know what happened to him. My truck was waiting in san Antonio. I'm 60 years old, remember it like yesterday. -
superpet39, you're on the right track (pardon the pun) to not bring a wheeled duffle. Reason being that it is hard to stow it in the top bunk, with the frame and wheels. I picked up two duffles, a large and a medium, at Walmart before going to orientation and training. The large duffle had all my light weight stuff, like sleeping bag, pillow, clothes, etc. The medium duffle had heavier things, like food and other items.
I also brought my laptop in a shoulder bag.
As noted above, go as light as you can through training. Trainers will often have little room for your stuff, so you'll need to make do with what can fit in the top bunk and if you are lucky you'll get a cupboard or two. Plan on sleeping in your sleeping bag on the bottom bunk when team driving.
