Well let's hope it's a start. Let's also hope they keep going. I personally hope Texas cracks down on illegal commercial drivers and gets up to speed with OK and AR. TX has a ridiculous exemption for intrastate.

The shady, foreign-owned trucking companies that have important functions performed overseas often have several DOT/MC numbers in their desk and a steady supply of foreign drivers with real-looking plastic cards one can confuse with a legal CDL. I don't see all of those operators being flushed down the drain. Staying in business allows them access to trailer loads of expensive items they can sell on the black market. There are cases of brokers and "trucking companies" cooperating to steal trailer loads of expensive goods using the location info from broker-required phone apps and "self-certified" ELD programs managed domestically and abroad.
Duffy is doing things far, far faster than I would ever have expected, and he is doing great things. I'm shocked how fast and focused his recent actions have been. I just think the criminals have more interest in finding other loopholes to steal and will continue. The hunter wants to shoot a buck, the buck has much more motivation to win that contest than the hunter, if you know what I mean.Rideandrepair, exhausted379, Siinman and 4 others Thank this. -
This new rule is going to affect a lot of drivers. It makes sense from a safety point of view since everyone holding a CDL will meet the same standards. At the same time, I can see it causing challenges for drivers and companies who have to adjust quickly.
Changes like this impact real people on the road every day.Walk Among Us and Rideandrepair Thank this.
