    is it possible to just run a small dump truck buissness with one truck or do you need say atleast 3 . Thanks tom

    If you have connections or know a lot of the right people in a given area, and have sufficient cash and a decent truck, and a business and sales head on your shoulders, sure you can. But there will be slow months where you will need to have had good months to carry you through. One truck dump operators are all over the place. Some doing good, some barely getting by.

    Really depends on what you do. Not all dump truck operations are the same... do you plan on hauling small ag, large ag, asphalt, cement, what? Do you plan on doing on-road operations, or lots of driving on unimproved roads? Will you be running a straight 6x4 with the typical 20k/40k setup, or you plan on getting a setup with full diff lockers? Do you plan to have it plumbed to allow for plowing snow?
    Take two people who drive dump trucks... they might have that in common, yet their jobs can be worlds apart from each other.
