Well It looks like my Dump Truck dream Is now gone down the drain...after spending the time to pass my air breaks and the next step would be the written exam.
But now I called about Insurance...and It looks like Its a big No...because I have no experience...they also sad that sand and gravel Insurance is the most expensive insurance you can buy...Great...so no trucken for this guy...I'm out -

You can lease to a dump company ya know. We have lease drivers here. Road trucks and daycabs. Its not 100% neccesary to have a air dump on your drives to be able to pull a dump bed. 1/2 our tractors are little daycab shakers with out it and none have tipped yet. Had a exhd road pete with the low leaf dumped tip though. A few of the shakers are pulling 39ft dumps the rest are 25ft.

But hey thanks for the tip on becoming a leased driver...I would not no where to start...but I guess by walking up to a local dump trucking company and saying...are you hiring any new drivers with there own Rig?
Too bad i never got my licence when I was younger...having many years of farm tractor/Loader experience doesnt give me any extra points I guess ...they still want $20,000 min

Yeah just start calling around. Surely someone up there leases too.
The air dump on the drives is just a switch on the dash that will dump your drive axles airbags. Makes the truck more stable when dumping. Not a requirement though, just have to be more careful without one. Also makes it easier to drop and hook a trailer. It could be anywhere really, doesn't have to be on the dash. -

Most of the time we hook up an air over electric switch that is hooked up to the pto and when the pto is engaged it automatically drops the air in the bags on ur drive axles.

If you opt to go with allumunum end dump you may want to invest on a floor liner espacially if you are going to haul top-soil othrwise you'll be doing alot of shovelling, dirt does'nt like alluminun espacially if it's wet or damp........

I've got a liner in my HilBilt XP. Sand still sticks up front, then rock, then more sand. Next thing you know your empty weight is a few hundred pounds heavier. Just raise it up and spray it out with a hose. I ran a Razorback end dump for awhile that didn't have a liner, it wasn't as bad as the XP. But I only haul sands and rocks. I had no idea there are so many different types of sand and rocks....
