The reasoning behind this is most dumptruck loads are by the load, and that quickly turns into first come-first serve. If your onsite earlier, you can get more loads.

I would park my transport truck at home everyday if I could.
But since I can see my truck at the company yard from my house window, no point.
Only about 300 feet to walk.
Since I don’t have to drive to work, I’m always the first in my truck, engine running, clutch pressed and transmission in gear.

That's true, and I've even seen drivers "camping out" to get that 1st load. I drew the line there,,,OldeSkool Thanks this.

Sounds like hauling logs. I did it one summer and it was very common for guys to be parked at the mill at 1or 2 in the morning to be first in line to get unloaded. Most of the time they were in daycabs.
