I Drive a super 16 dump truck and if the job cancelled before dumping my 1st load, should I charge the minimum of 4 hours or for the whole 8 hour day?

    Depends on lots of things.

What you charge them and what they pay are two different things, however.

4 hours would be typical if it's a regular customer you hope to work for again. The exception to that is if you traveled out of town, and you're staying in a motel for a job then I could see a 8 hour minimum.

If it's a random customer you have no prior working relationship with you could try the 8 hour minimum and see if they pay it. Be prepared to accept 4 hours if they push back, and the likelihood you won't get called back for repeat business.
