I'll probably get lots of negative responses to this but I'm just curious do others do this and how?
I've done it twice now. Both times it was molasses (would NEVER do it with hazmat or chem, only biodegradable ag products). This morning I had a rear dump and some real sticky molasses. I was on an incline and even after dumping my bags and jacking the trailer up I couldn't get maybe 15-20 gallons out. Customer had a bad unload spot for rear dump and could not re position. So on my way to the washout I pulled off on an off ramp and dumped that molasses out to avoid a heel charge. No my company won't charge me for it but they are a good company and I try to aviod having them get charged for things like a stupid heel charge.

Um......no.
Most creative thing I ever did was get a yard jockey to hook the trailer and lift it up in the unloading spot........19d, Tanker312, RockinChair and 6 others Thank this. -
I would have taken pictures of the setup at the receiver, and had the company try to charge the receiver for the fee. Even ask the customer where you can dump the remainder, as their setup prevents you from fully unloading.
Dumping molasses out on the side of the road is going to attract wildlife, which may end up causing an accident.Bud A., 19d, homeskillet and 4 others Thank this. -
The newspaper test: how would a picture of this look on the front page of a newspaper? I'm sure your company would rather pay the nominal heel charge.

No excuses. You should be ashamed of yourself.
19d, homeskillet, Roberts450 and 2 others Thank this. -
In avoiding the heel charge, you could have racked up a couple thousand in fines and citations, if a cop spotted you or someone took pictures and reported you.
It's extremely low class19d, homeskillet, skootertrashr6 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yeah, seriously not cool, Lucy.
Someone driving by has no idea that it's not hazardous waste. Even if they don't call in on you, you become the "One time I saw a tanker truck dumping on the side of the road..." story that this person tells EVERYBODY.
You shoulda called dispatch first.Put the ball in their court and let them deal with it. They may already be aware of the problem at that receiver.
I think you already knew you messed up and were looking for confirmation.
Learn from it and carry on. You're a tanker driver now, Lucy. Have some class.19d and Lucy in the Sky Thank this. -
Well #### y'all r probably right...I just figured it's kinda like throwing an apple core out the window. It's not littering if it's biodegradable. This is a bit more than just an apple core tho I'll admit.

It's not that uncommon for food grade tanker drivers to do something like that. You're the only one I know of that will admit it.
We all know it's illegal; blah, blah, blah, but that's life.19d, homeskillet and wore out Thank this.
