Most batteries today are maintenance free.
There's always been a core charge on batteries. They get rebuilt just like parts do.
My current rig i replaced last year. From peterbilt. 3 batteries were $240 after core refund.
Pete had the better price over kw. And the amps was 950 pete to 750 kw.
It's been 15 months and still going strong.
As one mentioned. I wash the dirt off once a month. A 3 amp maintainer goes on when the truck don't get used in the winter time.
It also helps to keep all the wires and cables clean and tight on the terminals. Seems any time the main battery gets disconnected for whatever reason. The mechanics don't tighten them down enough. The last time literally had the truck freaking out. And the transmission quit working. Least it was an easy fix.
Duracell or Super Start Batteries, which do you prefer?

Stop me if you heard this one,,,in the 80s, I hauled a load of lead bars to Globe Union in Milwaukee. Loaded in Herculenium Mo., 48 footer, the guy brings out 7 bundles of lead bars. He put 4 in the front, and 3 over the back. I said, "that's it"? He said, well you got 44,000 there. Who thought lead was so heavy. Anyway, I get to Milwaukee, back in, the guy says be right with you. I'm looking around at all these empty plastic battery cases, and say, hey, what gives? What battery do you make here? He said, they ALL come out of here. All the brands were represented, even Diehard. Now, I'm not sure about foreign batteries today , but they have it down to a science. At 24.5 months, I all but guarantee the 2 year battery will short out. Took a lot of testing for that. I had a pickup, put the "cheapie" fuel pump, 1 year warranty, at 13 months, it failed, I kid you not. You get what you pay for.

Growing up every time a truck was washed the battery box cover was removed and the batt tops were brushed off with soap and water. Never see anyone do that anymore.

Trp is exide. Pete has used exide oe for 40 plus years. They have gone way down in quality in those years. Alliance, Die Hard, Interstate, and Optima were Johnson Controls. JC sold off their vehicle battery division to a German company in 2017.

He's talking about truck batteries.
Not apu batteries.
On my pete I just open the door and hose it off.
Might be a different story if there was corrosion or acid or whatever. But all I have is dirt.
Besides. There's chemicals now that work just as good or better then brushes and soap and water. Spray on. Let it soak and rinse off.broke down plumber Thanks this. -
