So... we have a safety quiz on pre/post tripping and here is the question.
To control the hazardous energy during a Pre/Post-Trip inspection, you should disconnect the air system from the trailer.
Answer: TRUE.
The answer seems counter intuitive. I would think everything should be connected so you can check everything out thoroughly.
During Pre Trip / Post Trip should airlines be connected to trailer?

Answer true and move on.
What a dumb question. -
"But Six, how on earth would you be able to do a trailer inspection that way?"
I never said that anything that OSHA said makes sense. Once, I went to a site where I was not allowed to get on my lowboy trailer without tethering myself on to something so I wouldnt fall to the ground. 18 inches. I can climb in and out of the truck, but I cant get on the 18inch tall deck of my trailer. I laugh Hahahaha. PPE and tethered while brooming off the deck.

The stuff OSHA currently requires as "fall protection" would have at one time been frowned upon, and declared a "trip hazard" or an "entanglement threat".

The correct answer as to whether the trailer should be connected during an inspection is yes, there is no such thing as "hazardous energy" created when a trailer is connected; the trailer air system must be inspected and there is no way to do that with the air lines disconnected.
Tell whoever asked you this question that they are an idiot with no business training truck drivers, if you lack the will to do this then at the very least assume everything they tell you is wrong to protect yourself.Studebaker Hawk Thanks this. -
