I don't think you are going to find what you are looking for here. I don't think there are any companies that will hire with a recent DUI. Or a suspension connected to anything that had to do with a DUI. Even if it wasn't. If alcohol and a vehicle were involved in any way they won't want you. Why pay a higher insurance rate when you can just go to the next application and hire the guy with nothing on his record.
Now there is always a chance you may get lucky. But chances are few and far between. And then what kind of company would it be.
If it were me in this situation and I really wanted to drive and I was really innocent. I would get another job in another field and use that money to find another lawyer and fight it with everything I got!!

EDIT: never mind. how did I let myself get sucked back into this again? -
WOW I just don't get this one.
Here is what I am getting from these posts -
1 - he had gotten puilled over, blew over the limit and was arrested.
2 - it was dismissed.
3 - has talked to one recuirter who said he needs to go back to school for a refresher and then on the road he can go.
4 - seems to focus on the issue of being held being tried by the police but the case was dismissed which seems to trigger this question -
Did he try to apply for other jobs and see what he can do about getting his foot in the door before trying to fix anything?superpet39 Thanks this. -
Get another lawyer. Get it removed.
Doubt any company worth going to, will even look twice with that on your record.
Buy a truck, go O/O, apply for insurance, and understand why no one will touch you.
With that said, it sounds like you got the dismissal due to a technicality. Had the judge followed the proper procedure, the conviction would have most likely happened. Might be why the lawyer said it would cost too much and take too much time.
Good luck. -
i will say though: your "guesses" about me are far far from accurate.(especially the last one) -
Were are you from.

If the commissioner does not have the 1 year suspension removed, then WAIT at least 3 years to apply for another driving job, explaining your situation to a potential future employer.
In the mean time, it is absolutely necessary that you find a job, other than driving, to earn some kind of a living.
From the sound of things, it is all in the hands of the North Carolina Motor Vehicle Department, as authorized by the state of North Carolina.
Perhaps the Department of Transportation, (D.O.T.), might be able to help you out on this one, you never know.
If the D.O.T. does step in to help you, perhaps you may NOT have to wait another 3 years to reapply for another driving job. It is worth a try. You never know.
NOTE:
Your driving history, as of 1980, is 33 years, not 30 years, not 40 years. Your math was off on this one. 2013 - 1980 = 33.
Good luck to you!

Thanks for all of the advise and discussion on my problem. One last comment it was not the judge that made a mistake it was the police and detention center that arrested and held me and did not allow me to have independent testing and the reason the case was dismissed in court. The DOT does not recognize the court dismissal. This is the way it is in NC.
Ii have applied for many driving jobs with no luck. Each time it is the same answer no!
I will move on and look for other work.
Appreciate all of you. Good luck on the road!!!amiller Thanks this.
