Innocent until proven guilty is the law of the land.I didn't make the rules however I will confess to using them to my advantage whenever possible.

So if I read you right,,,even if someone makes a complete turnaround in their life, goes through rehabilitation, pays his dues,,,he/she doesn't deserve a CDL,,that's a little judgemental in my opinion,,,it's what a person is doing now with their life,,not what they did in 1988.

I agree that what a person does now really matters, BUT a person who has a DUI or DWI has shown that they will/or have made irresponsible decisions. By drinking and driving your putting not only your life in danger but everyone else on or around the roads you drive down lives in danger.

And as far a holding a CDL personally I don't think that a person you has shown that he/she makes irresponsible decisions should have one. A CDL should have MUCH higher standards then a regular license. Just like a pilot it doesn't take much to get a solo license but to get a Commercial Pilots license you have to meet much higher standards.

I would never get behind the wheel of anything after so much as a sip of any alcohol. Not just because I don't want to endanger myself as well as everyone else but because its against the LAW and because I hold a CDL it could take away career. No matter how stupid/wrong/pointless/unconstitutional a law may be its still a LAW and therefore must be fallowed.

And I know people make mistakes, so at best I would say that you shouldn't be able to obtain a CDL if you've had more then one DUI/DWI and It should be at least 10 years after said DUI/DWI till you can get one.

I'm not saying that just because you have a DUI/DWI you won't be a good driver some of the best and most experienced drivers on this forum could have one for all I know.

never say never. just about ANYTHING can be expunged from your criminal history. INCLUDING DUI'S.

and mexico and canada will never know.

canada has no idea i EVER had a dui.

my incident was 15 years ago. long before i got a cdl. it was expunged 3 years ago.

A DWI arrest is nothing more than a police accusing someone of driving intoxicated.A DWI conviction is the bad thing not the arrest.
