I know my Rand McNally GPS has an option to add some do-dad to it for logs ... Seems like a one time expense ... In the last four years of running electronic logs ... Four inspections, two tickets ... As soon as they found out I had electronic logs, they didn't want to even look at them ...
Leaning toward big road -- looks like it can be upgraded to an ELD and uses tablet. I might even be able to use my phone at first...
I used “Keeptrucking” on an iPad last season. It worked out great. You can see all of the info at a glance. I had the iPad mini mounted near my right side in a removable stand so I could take it with me when I was out of the truck. I would sent the daily logs to my email address and print them when I had access to a printer. I never carried a printer with me, but I also never had to show paper logs to any DOT personnel. I only had to show the iPad once and she accepted it. I did get the feeling that logs are not looked at as closely when they are on a computer.
@double yellow I use BigRoad, I am very happy with it. I use the free app for my iPhone, I've not used the other apps mentioned here either. I do know that Big Road has the availability to go full blown EOBR. I think for the price of free I would check it out, I print wirelessly to my printer you can also email the logs direct from the app to an email of your choice. I've not had an inspection in year and half! So I can't give any feed back on how that would go....
I also forgot, and I'm sure you analyzed all your options already to know this. But, you do have to pay for the advanced version of BigRoad.... I've thought about looking into the JJKeller version with the tablet but they pester me with so many phone calls and mailers that I'm just turned off, kinda like the best salesman in the world seminar....if you remember what I'm referring to... LOL
