For drivers that work for companies using e-logs, is home time automatically continued on the e-log for each day that you are off duty and away from the truck? For instance, you last put "off duty" at 9pm on a Friday and have Saturday and most of Sunday off. On Sunday when you get to truck and start pre-trip and driving at 8pm, I assume the e-log automatically documents the time from friday 9pm to Sunday 8pm on line 1? You do not have to go back from friday 9pm through Sunday 8pm and "back log" that time do you?

when you go off duty it will keep you there fri, sat, etc. no need to bother with it. when you have been off duty for 34 hrs, it will reset your hrs to 70 and you are good to go.

No you don't have to backlog. E log will keep up with your HOS at all times.

Bingo. Exactly correct. I've been on E-Logs for 13 months and it has become logging for dummies, at least for me anyway.
