Even though I have been driving for 7 years I consider myself a rookie. I've done everything I can on paper logs to make money. However my present company uses E Logs and I'm actually beginning to like them.

Now that the initial shock of being required by my company to use them has worn off and getting go know the system. I don't know why there's all the negativity out there about E Logs?

I'm becomming more efficient with my driving. I'm getting more rest, more consistant exercise, not even my dispatcher can require me to cheat.

So for you older truckers out there what's the big deal?

    JustSonny Thanks this.

They can't fudge an e-log, like they can a paper log?

That and I heard it can be a hassle when it automatically puts you onto a line you dont need to be on. Im not looking forward to them, but will admit Im interested to see how it will affect my ability to make money.

I ran on Werners system when I first started driving and YES it was nice not to have to do a log book every day. BUT a strong gust of wind put me on line 4 while I was sleeping. I woke up and sent my PTI and driving macro and was told that I was out of hours because I was line 4 for 12 hours. After going round and round with the logs department and with safety I got them to reset my logs. All they had to do was check the GPS and realize I hadn't moved.
Another time I moved my truck less than 50 yards to a proper parking spot in a truck stop(mid winter and I had to get off the road ) and I got flagged for a 10 hour violation and was shut down by logs for 14 hours(they would not change this one). I had crossed a grid line in the system.
So all in all I will not willingly go back to an E-log company or even a company that has a quaalcom. I despise big brother looking over my shoulder all the time.

By the way I am making more money now and getting the same amount of rest I got with both big brother companies I drove for and I sit around less waiting for them to ALLOW me to run. I drive legal end of story
