So i drive a company trailer right now. It has the rectangular side holes vertically every 24 inch. I think its called etrack. I clip my straps in and im done.

So, What is "A"track and "Logistic post"? Are they needed? Also how are load bars used? Do they just push up against the walls of the trailer anywhere? my truck has a lockign rack for them, but i havn't bought any or needed them. (although they might be better for loads of beer) Currently all the loads I haul I could use straps. Im lookign at buying my own trailer and want to make sure i dont miss anything i might need.

    Thanks

I pulled a 53' van with the vertical E-track that you have. If you have straps, you should never have a need for load bars in that trailer. I found that the straps worked MUCH better and were easier to stow when not being used.

We have a few customers that use those bars to double deck a trailer.

They load two pallets on the floor. Put the bars in place and then put two pallets on top. ProTrans International does it all the time. Only way to send 65-70 pallets of LTL orders on one trailer.

Some of our older trailers are built as double deck trailers with built in rails.

I think you mean e track. As far as I know, logistic posts and e track are basically the same thing except e track will usually run horizontally the length of the trailer, sometimes two or three strips on each side. And logistic posts are e track posts that run vertical with the slots and I think they are every 2 feet. Like was mentioned it's a great way to double stack pallets where you cant stack on the bottom one. Richter, they "clip" onto the wall in the trailer, there is no pressure involved and they will stay there until you unclip them. Windsmith, straps are good but you can't "load" a skid on top of a couple, lol I guess you could but would look pretty funny and would not be very stable. They make systems now where your load bars are stored at the roof of the trailer and if you need them you can lower them to whatever height you need.

Right. I was comparing the vertical e-track and straps combination to the use of 'load bars', which don't actually clip into the e-track.

To split hairs a little..........load bars are what you use in an e track system and "load locks" are the pressure/ratchet ones you are referring to.

Agreed. I wasn't familiar with load bars, so I didn't offer comment regarding them. I was addressing the following obscure line from the OP's post which I assumed he meant load locks (and I wasn't very clear or coherent in doing so) :) :
