I was told by a recruiter that they run in the south and I live in a good area for them. Of course, it was a recruiter telling me this. Do any southern drivers have any experience with them?

    Update!
E.W. Wiley has become a sister company to SPD (Smokey Point Distributing-Arlington, WA) Both companies are operated under Walden Group(TWG) an umbrella company.

Wonder if them selling out has anything to do with all the lawsuits coming in from their wind tower div.?
They took on a job out east, that really bite them in the rear..
They under bid it and never researched the costs and hassles about moving that type of load out of up state NY..
I know they closed out their wind div. earlier last year. 2011

Crazy that specialized trucking is more complicated than buying some equipment and getting butts in the seats. Perhaps they would have been better sticking with flats.

    This very true cpape.
I think at one time they were owned or partly owned by a company that also owns DMI.
They are a big maker of wind towers.

Bidding oversize lds. can be a real hassle.
Depending on the size of the ld. and where you pick up and have to del. it to.
We currently have 2 people working on a rte. for the 19axle units to move some pieces.
Ld. is 25' wide and will be 26' high in the air, when on the trailer.
They have been working on a rte. for over a month.
One county in N.D. wants 800.00 dollars a mile to run county rds. just to keep these lds. out of town. This not a bond, but permit fees.
Told the driver have fun as I was hding to the airport to go home.
Oh the weathers great here at home. In the 80's today.

You are correct about their ownership. It was an investment firm that owned both them and the tower company. So they decided to get into heavy haul. Only problem was they lacked contacts. Early on their specialized drivers spent a lot of time waiting on loads.

I rarely bid anything wider than 12' or higher than 14'. It never seems to be worth the hassle.
