Pay: Since I see that you live in Texas, most likely they'll try to get you to go Texas regional which is percentage pay 27% of the load. This is about .41 cpm. There is NO DETENTION PAY but you do get break down pay. Tarp pay is $50 per load. Pay is every two weeks which SUCKS! You'll get a $1000 sign up bonus which is broken down into 4 installments.
Trucks: If you go 48 you'll get a newer truck 2012 and up. If you are Texas regional you'll get the "hand me down" trucks that are pushing five years old. Most trucks have APU's but a few don't. They will factor this in for bonuses. All trucks have 1500 watt inverters. The older trucks don't haver Idle cut off so you can idle. It appears that they won't breathe down your neck about the idle time as long as you are reasonable with it. Pets are allowed but you have to pay a deposit and passengers are allowed you have to let them know first. They mostly have Mack, Volvos, internationals, and a few Frightliner here and there. You'll get one truck wash a month. Fueling is 98% Pilot Flying J. Trucks can't go not faster than 62mph, even with the trottle down.
Orientation: They'll pay your plane ticket to Fargo. Orientation starts on mondays, so most likely you'll leave on a weekend. My advice is to bring clothes, coveralls (You'll get dirty fast in flatbedding), and some of your trucking supplies like bedsheets. This is because it might take them almost 2 weeks to get you home if your truck is in Fargo. Ask the recruiter if they will pay for the extra bag because of all the stuff or reimburse you for it. If you don't want to do all of that there is a walmart near by. No you don't get paid for Orientation which is about 4-1/2-5 days. They will pay for all your meals and the Kelly inn hotel has breakfast every morning. The Kelly Inn is pretty nice it has an indoor pool, 2 hot water spas, and a small workout room. Meals are Chinese, Subway, and Pizza Ranch. For dinner you'll get a 10 dollar Subway card or a coupon for the Chinese buffet. Orientation class might be small, so your orientation might end a day earlier.
Physical: Standard stuff. The extra stuff is lifting about 75 pounds and push, pull a 90 pound cart on carpet.
Extra info: Elogs:Yes. Peoplenet or quallcom MCP100. They pay close attention to your logs. Two minute inspections is not going to fly here. Weekend dispatch after 12PM appears to be non existent. Pay Advances $150 a week. You can use the transflow app to send in your paperwork through your phone. You'll get all of your flatbed stuff on your truck before you leave so you don't have to buy it. No GPS program on the e-log computers you'll just get the directions via message along with your fuel stops.dogtrucker Thanks this. -
04/14/14- They remade my appointment to pick up the pipes. 1500. Freaking 1500. This is all the Shipper's fault, they are the ones who caused the accident! I'll get breakdown pay but no detention pay. I politely asked about me getting home. I was told as soon as I get to Houston it'll be easier for them to find me a load going back towards San Antonio. Oooookay. Like I said, I'm here for the Flatbed experience, and it's too soon to Judge them. I'm able to tough out a hellish situation if there is something positive that would come out of it. I found out I was supposed to get tarp pay but my dispatcher forgot to put it in the system. I'll get the tarp pay next pay check.

That sounds alot like the mega carriers too. #### stuck at 62mph....good way to loose money. And as other drivers have said stay away from % pay...good call. I am steering clear of this company when I decide to change. I appreciate the info reddove.

I think its kinda like basic training/boot camp for the services. 2 people could go thru the same facility, with the same instructors, and receive different impressions from it all. It's not supposed to be like that, but it is.
Some drivers love a certain company, while others are miserable there. Do the most and best research that you can (with heavy emphasis on what you get from drivers in that company), all taken with a grain of salt. Cuz let's face it. We each need/expect different things for ourselves or our families.TokyoJoe Thanks this. -
