Sorry Snowbird the DOT can very easily get ex pass info--last 2 audits we went thru--the examiner had ALL our records on his briefcase when he walked in.....EZ Pass will give DOT/FMCSA records w/out a watrant--just a written request---& we only went thru the audits due to our adding Haz to our authority.....

Yes they can, supporting documents in log verification, but they usually start with the lower hanging fruit first. They'll first ask for BOLs and settlement sheets to verify the logs and if they match up pretty close (mine gave me 15 minutes) that will probably be enough unless you popped up in CSA with some HOS violations and they want to dig some. If for some reason they want to dig the next thing they'll ask for is your fuel reports from the fuel card company (they all have the reports with time stamped and locations for each transaction) and go from there and possibly then move on to the EZ Pass or Prepass reports. They tend to start with the easiest stuff to get first.

Yeah, I forgot you said it was new entrant audit. Those aren't bad and they are usually pretty helpful with showing you what you need to do. It's the "focused compliance review as the result of SMS BASICs in the threshold for intervention" audits that get into the real nitty gritty. Those are to be avoided like the plague. LOL.

Prepass records date and time but cannot be used for enforcement simply because enforcement is not a part of the agreement. In the event of an accident however, they do have the authority to check recorded data. That's how someone in the compliance dept at OOIDA explained it to me, prior to me getting Prepass recently.

I have had ezpass info to prove my pass "malfunctioned" its time stamped with location and direction. It was an Illinois ezpass and Ohio was saying I skipped thru both.
