That's a fairly straight stretch of road...

    Suicide.
We all think about steering off a bridge occasionally. Then we quickly realize how great we have it.
That driver realized how good his life was about 25 feet down.

That bridge is on a curve downhill in wide open country a front tire blowout could jerk you to the side of the road at high speed and some of the bumps hitting that bridge are strong. Did not look like much cargo in the box.

Could be .... or just the worst possible time to suffer an mechanical incident or significant distraction. If you veer off early enough, you'll miss the rail, travel the median, and plunge right over . The story indicates he went over the concrete barrier. I suppose this is possible if you were having a really bad day

Many years ago I was out that way doing some work and took this pic

That middle pic is a deceptive grade. It's steeper than what is posted, and it's longer than anyone would expect given the surrounding terrain. It's out in BFE too. Long time before help is going to arrive if things go bad.

That panorama (original file) is a stitched photo. Huge. cropped to 21,000 pixels wide x 3,500 high. If I ever get the money and a room and motif to display it properly, I'll print that out to 10 feet wide and hardly distort any pixels. But I have numerous others stitched panoramas I'd have a hard time choosing between

Don't bother. This forum won't allow larger images to be posted, plus it trashes the jpgs for display, too. I think I downsized to to 1,800 wide, but the web site image handler really removes a LOT of detail in images that are uploaded. None would be fit to view full screen or printed.

    Lepton1 and tucker Thank this.
