So more questions ... Fuel card, any restriction on using our own. Eagles transaction fee is usury.

It's presumed I can bring my own tractor to the party. What about trailer? $160 a week buys a lot of trailer.

So I'm a liar? Thursday I called TQL at 9am MST about a load picking up in Pueblo, CO going to Niles, MI. The negotiation went well then he asked for the MC#. His exact words were," Oh you work for Eagle, sorry we will be unable to work with you, your company has an issue with rate cons." After asking him what was going on he said," We have issues not getting them signed, taking hours or days to get them back, or just a complete run around, I'm sorry but not on this account."

I then called my DM and she asked for his name, number, and extension. An hour later she called me back with the same load but for $100 less this time booked through Tennessee Steel Haulers unable to get the load from TQL.

That was the event nearly verbatim. I say nearly because I do not speculate. Was this person a bad apple? Or not willing to take a risk with an unsure situation?

Not sure what you mean by this? Are you asking if you can just buy your own fuel and not buy through the ComData card? If so, then yep, buy your fuel however you want.

Not sure, most leasing questions are better ran through Quality, because I'm not exposed to much of that. As for trailers, I've never had someone ask to bring their own trailer along (I have seen a few bring their own trucks). I don't see why that wouldn't be ok, but like I said, I've never seen it tested.

Sure you can "break" it out. But in the end it really doesn't matter.

Your price point is your price point. The shipper is going to pay what they're going to pay.Your job is to sell a rate to a carrier/driver that they will accept. One that will give you the biggest gap you can skim between the two points.

Not faulting you. It's business. It is, what it is.

Whoawhoawhoa, I'm not calling you a liar, I'm saying that anyone (TQL, Eagle Dm, etc.) that told you we don't work with TQL is 100% incorrect.

TQL is unique in the way they do rate cons. Most brokers send one rate con, whereas they send two. The first has the rate and cities of pick up/delivery, and the second has the appt. times and actual addresses.

TQL is also very "segmented" in that their loads are given to brokers in packages, so instead of just calling an office or department like you might do with Echo or Coyote (just as an example), you basically have to call "Bob at extention XXXXX" because if you call Joe at extention YYYYY, he won't know what you're talking about.

Because of this, TQL agents often don't realize that we have a contract with their company, so the first time we try and book with them, they'll ask us to sign their rate con. Our contract specifically says that our DMs will NOT sign any rate con, although they will email a reply that confirms the booking. Most TQL brokers understand this, but a few don't and/or can be stubborn about it.

If I'm being honest (and I told you I would be), TQL can be kind of difficult to work with. The two rate cons thing as well as their people not knowing what's going on can be really frustrating. They occasionally have good freight though, so sometimes it's worth it.

Actually, it does make a difference if you are getting paid on the line haul and the fuel separately. If your company takes it's cut from the line haul and gives you 100% of the fuel it makes a huge difference. If your company is taking it out of the total rate then it's more money for them and less for you. How your Company does it, I have no idea. But,there are plenty out there that don't touch the FSC and they take from the line haul. So, yes, it really does make a difference to some. Huge difference at the end of each week.

Yes they send two forms but the second is just carrier instructions with addresses and P/U numbers.
But that does lead me to ask one question. If it's just an email process, why aren't drivers allowed to do this? That would greatly simplify the process. We can then just email the DM with the complete pickup and delivery info plus a copy of the rate con. Then we can start rolling, while he/she dispatches the info to the qualcomm.
