They're actually beginning another "branch" (not exactly sure what to call it) of Eagle that's focused on local runs. Not sure what to think of that. Depending on the lease terms, it could work, but at OTR costs I don't think it's feasible.

We do get really nice deals on loaner trucks that our local guys use now though, so hopefully some of that carries over.

Yeah when I was there in Nov. guys who were done and waiting on their trucks could sign up to run local which was a 250 mile radius of Indy. The problem was that the list was long and there was not enough runs to go around each day. But on the flip side, it put some cash in your pocket if you did work.

Yeah, that's a nice little project for people that are either waiting to get their trucks, or more often, guys that are in the shop for a long time.

In the good ol' days (3 months ago or so haha), if you're truck went down for a long period of time, you were just sort of screwed. If Quality wouldn't let you get a new one, you couldn't run and your debt just mounted. About three months ago, the came up with the local fleet as a way to help those guys, and the guys waiting for trucks, to make a little extra money. Like you said though, the wait list could get long sometimes.

This is an entirely new Eagle division (sort of thing, still not sure exactly what to call it "branch", "division", "group"??) that will focus on only certain regions and from what I'm hearing, not leave that region for basically any reason. It's an interesting concept.

I have been through the replies for back to a year and it seems things are changing at Eagle. I'm thinking about coming on with Eagle and was wanting to know if they are a good company to work with and all the specifics I can get. Can anyone help me with this information. The recruiter I talked to doesn't seem to want to give the information I'm asking for. Korean is not very helpful.

Are you doing dry van, reefer, or flatbed? Also, what you find on this thread sometimes is just driver rant, but there are some good pieces of info here too. Once you know what division you are going to, orientation is 3 days, but will end up being 6 or 7, why? because if you get a used truck it has to go through the DOT phase to make sure all DOT items are what they should be, and remember, I said DOT items, they will not fix everything you find wrong with the truck, then you will meet your DM, let him or her know how you want to run, what area you don't want to run for the most part. Then you will have to go get your trailer, then you will get your first dispatch.

You can book your own loads, but they have to be with approved brokers, and the loads should produce at least $500 to $700 per day in revenue if you want to make money.
