I am in the process of earning my A's alone. I have my B's and the company I currently work for is going to let me borrow a tractor to do the skills test. I have been driving for 8 years. Once I get my Class A's here is the question. Do I consider myself with out any experiance when I talk to companys or do I bother mentioning the years of Class B driving. The only thing I have yet to learn is all my paper work ( inspection and driving log I think I have down pat, but not sure what else there is). I want to start running OTR now that my daughter is old enough to understand that I will be comming home. I am at a loss. The physical driving part doesn't worry me as much as the paper work and the experiance ( or lack of ) Any info anyone can give me would be great. I have been thinking about starting with a large company like Swift and then after a couple years looking at a smaller local carrier to finish out my career with. Thanks again for any info.

Good luck getting anybody to even look at your application much less getting hired. The insurance companies decide who gets hired and who doesn't. Not the trucking companies. No diploma from a driving school= no job. Swift wouldn't even let you fill out an app much less submit one. Also your class b experience won't count for anything. I know this sounds harsh but that's life.
