Have you ever seen the profile of the driver who lives inside his truck running OTR, and only eats truck stop food? I disagree. Crack the windows, turn the bunk fan on. When grilling etc; do it outside. A driver running all 48 states might spend 320 days a year or more living in his truck. You gonna say because there might be a light scent left in that truck that an ozone machine can remove that that driver can only eat truckstop food for the rest of his life? Come on man. You forget we live in these things. Literally live in them. The day ever comes that I’m told I can’t cook in my truck is the day I hang it up. lol and I don’t say that to be rude it’s just a matter of survival for me. I’m not eating that crap out on the road.

You can eat pretty healthy making good choices among the healthy section of the Loves, Pilot-Flying Js and by buying healthy food at grocery stores. People that don't do that like to build some Mt Everest obstacle between them and healthy food to justify eating 9 quarter pounders per week for 20 years.

I purchased a Galanz Microwave, Air fryer, Convection oven from Walmart for about $100. It works great to air fry brats and fries. Use microwave for either home leftovers I bring, or a back stash of canned beef stew, rice etc. The think I use the most is my Keurig. I just replaced old drip maker with this. It's lightweight and some double sided tape holds it secure on cabinet top. Makes coffee so much quicker and easier than the drip and I do multiple times a day when waiting for trailer to dump. All healthier and far cheaper than truck stops, fast food, or door dash IMG_20250228_235828188.jpg IMG_20250228_235648126.jpg

Good luck. Stay healthy. Don’t forget to move around often. A break from sitting every 2- 3.5 hours max is very important. Doesn’t add much time to a trip.

One thing I’ve never understood and I see this when I get out and go for a walk after my shift. Many times my walk consists of just walking laps around the truckstop. But I’ll see drivers pull in and park probably after driving for 10 hours. And then they will sit in their seat and stare out the window for another two or three hours literally. I never understood this. When I stop driving for the day, I can’t get out of that seat fast enough.

$100? I’m going to get one. Last time I priced one it was a lot more than that at Walmart. An air fryer is a convection oven. Same thing. Bakery’s use them, fancy kitchens have them. Always electric, just an oven with a fan. Fan circulating the air makes for even baking through out. You can bake a cake in the Truck. Lol.

Yeah, I’m sure that’s what they’re doing. And if you’re at a busy truckstop, I admit it can be quite entertaining. However, I at least will go in the bunk. Stretch my legs. I just don’t understand how people can sit in the same seat after driving all day.

The less you get from fast food places or truck stops the better off you will be. You save money and your health and cut down the stress. Fuel up, get DEF then split and try to sleep at a rest area or somewhere else. Sometimes you have to, but you can buy food at a real store and eat like a human being in your truck. An air fryer is a possibility too. Truck stops are awful to say the least and they will make you old, people will hit and run your truck, you step in other people's waste. You have to worry about junkies etc.

I agree with this. Truckstops are unavoidable for fuel and showers but I try to take a 10 at a rest stop or customer as often as possible. Sometimes you can't avoid having to stay at the TS, but often you can.
