OTC makes a crooked pry bar thing that once you learn how to use it works great

As mentioned above the OTC bar for the ES2 brakes makes doing the drives easy.
Those 6" steer shoes though are just a PITA, What I did last time was install the short springs first moving the shoe however I needed to get the spring as close as possible to the collar and using a screw driver to assist. Then put the rollers in and finally the anchor pin springs.
Do pay attention though to the short springs and the collar they attach to, had one truck come in that had it put on wrong and wore into the steer hub pretty good.

I used my 24” crescent today to install the rollers, was in kind of a hurry since a call came in about a trucker broke down on Davis creek mountain and needed a wrecker….

Then went and got his trailer and pulled it to the shop to get it in a safe location….

Yes the e10244 hardware is easy. I think the original post was referring to the ones in the picture. I have been doing brakes for 30 plus years and it's the first time I have come across these. They are a pain in the ###. Is there an easy way to do them? Or a tool?

those are not Eaton , they are Meritor Q's and are super easy, He is talking about those double single springs on front hubs they are the meanest things to deal with and since you are working on the easy stuff you should apologize, and 1/4 " chain cut to length so that a ladies foot pry bar can pivot off cam head is the only thing that I found to make this job remotely profitable but with practice quicker

Ok, the Meritors are really easy. Can use a pair of pliers and/or a screwdriver to set the spring. I changed all 3 of my axles brakes with meritor and it was super easy.
Today im changing my truck brakes(4709) and has the springs like the 1st post, these are very aggravating. I ordered me a spring tool off amazon this afternoon that will be here 1st thing in the morning. I had to walk away from trying to get the springs on. On 2 axles I got the front springs on somehow. I cannot get the back springs on there..... 2 hours and counting,...... I give up for the day!!!
