    Howdy All,

My truck is a 2001, 379 with a C-15 engine, three pedal Eaton-Fuller 18 speed Auto-Shift transmission. This transmission has worked flawlessly the 30,000 miles I have driven the truck. The transmission works as it should in all the forward gears and in reverse, shifts up and down no problem. Now for some reason it won't shift into 18th gear, there is a flashing red light on the shifter column that I have never seen before, it doesn't flash as some sort of code, it just flashes at the same speed continuously. I did an internet search as best I could and it said to turn the key on and off five times within five seconds leaving the key in the ON position when doing the fifth turn on. I did this, I don't get any code type flashes it just flashes at the same speed continuously. Can anyone offer any advice or give suggestions on things to try before taking it to a dealer and getting raped. Thanks for any help you can give.

Attention @pushbroom you have helped me a lot in the past, THANKS, do you have any suggestions?

    Dave

Have you tried a battery disconnect. Sometimes that can reset it.

    Mr. Cob Thanks this.

    Howdy tnevin225,

No, I have not tried that yet. Pouring down rain here now and I have to work outside, its supposed to be better tomorrow and that is the first thing on my list of things to do-try. Thanks for your suggestion.

    @Mr. Cob
Whats the last six of the truck s/n again? Once we get that we can figure out what model trans. Trans manuals are listed for free at roadranger literature.
Sometimes you can get a decent enough fault code to do some trouble shooting, other times you might need to swing by a dealer and get a laptop hooked up to at least see what the code is then decide a repair plan after

Sounds like you may have an UltraShift Plus? Got a sorta car style shifter with up and downshift buttons on the side?

Occassionally, mine will do the same. First, you have to get the code being thrown:

Engine off, key in start position. Cycle off/on, off/on, off/on within 5 seconds. That's THREE cycles. Code should show on the dash where you see what gear you are in.

Once you diagnose the code, THEN you can do the code clearing (same as above, but FIVE cycles instead of three).

My Ultrashift plus likes to throw a "Starter Interrupt" relay code because I run a 2013 KW T680. And my relays suck. Even the brand new ones.

    Howdy pushbroom,

Here's the last 6, "550928". I have down loaded this trouble shooting guide,

    https://wellertruck.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Gen-1-Troubleshooting-Guide.pdf

Read through it but without the needed knowledge and test equipment its pretty much Greek to me. Thanks for your reply and whatever help you can offer.

    Howdy brsims,

To the best of my knowledge, my trany is a first gen
"Auto-Shift" I still have a clutch pedal that has to be used before going into gear, moving from a dead stop, coming to a dead stop and to put the trans back into neutral. Here's a photo of my shifter, there are up shift and down shift buttons on the left hand side of the shifter T-handle.

Yep, yours is the older first gen model. Sorry, I have no knowledge of the diagnosis on those. Mine is second or third gen, no clutch pedal and better programming in the ECM.

    Mr. Cob Thanks this.
