A friend is looking for a source to program ecm on a 95 red head. does not want to change hard parts or use PP box. moderate hp increase and maybe some mpg. I know PDI is one option. anyone know of others?

First, you will have to get the CPL number off the engine and see how high you can go without physically changing any parts.

true if you are by the book a ECM doesn't know what N-14 its hooked to you can program any cpl you like into it all factory injectors was good for 460 all red heads is good for at least 500 I'm not sure what was swapped for the 525 setting
-
seems like ive seen a few 435 red heads ECM probley has the 525 setting but if it doesn't have a trans rated for the torque all the shops I have been to always told me no, I did buy a ecm that was a celect factory 370 that was uprated to 460 and 1650lb of torque put it on a n-14 330 with a 1400 series 9-spd, motor ran so much better alot more timing never had any drive line issues
-
If it's a 500 it might be 1650 torque, that could be uprated to 525 1850 torque, that's a nice increase with the torque. Also,Illinois Dyno Center claims to be able to get even more out of them with ecm tuning.

Sometimes they will limit the max RPM. For example, 500 hp at 1800, VS 525 at 2100. Reprogramming allows the max rpm to increase from 1800 to 2100 to get the hp increase.
