I heard many years ago that Canada goes through Interpol to do record checks, and Interpol does not recognize juvenile records as being "sealed". That is a US thing, not international.

I have an alcohol related misdemeanor conviction from when I was 19, and don't go to Canada with a commercial vehicle because of it. Since my conviction is considered a felony in Canada, I ain't allowed in with a big truck. My response was to stick with carriers that don't haul freight to Canada.

Oh wow, no kidding. I have a reckless from years and years back. I wonder if thats a felony too.

I knew a guy that went up to canada and got turned away. Was going up there for personal reasons on his own dime.

Yea their alcohol charges up there are a lot more strict. But fortunately they do recognize a charge as juvenile which they seem to be more forgiving of. I have two felonys and a misdemeanor and they said they don't see why I would be held from entering becouse of my age.

Doesn't bother me in the least. I've never had any trouble crossing the border in my personal.vehicle or on foot (Niagara Falls), and I've heard plenty enough horror stories to have zero interest in crossinf with a commercial vehicle.

Really. I know for a fact if those felonies have to do with ahhemm controlled substances, who ever you talked with is probably wrong and you will be turned away.

I dont care to drive to canada anyway about anyways.

The felonys I have have nothing to do with controlled substances. The misdermeanor I had was a minor in possesion of alcohol. I actually talked to the canadian officers and they took my cdl and looked me up and did a full background.. I'm still nervous, but here in a couple weeks I'll find out if they let me and the truck In.

An EDL is just compliance with some security standards that the gov't approves of and a RFID chip. Having one doesn't mean you have a clean criminal history. What most states issue as an EDL is what we get here in VA as our standard license. Granted we're gov't central over here. If you were a minor when that happened than get a lawyer to see if it can be expunged. Probably worth the money.

So you have Felonies and a Misdemeanor? Were they both juvenile offenses? I doubt the misdemeanor will be a problem but what was the felony?

Two felonies.. contempt of resedintial burglary and possesion of stolen property. The misdermeanor was minor in possesion of alcohol. These can all be expunged but that doesn't matter when it comes to crossing th border

Of course it does, maybe not a seal, but an expunge is gone gone, even OUR law enforcement won't be able to see it, I'm sure the feds still can but i doubt a foreign country will be able to.
