egr replacement costs....ARE YOU FRICKIN KIDDING ME?!?!?!

I have a bad egr valve now....are you saying it would be better to do this and get them turned off, than pay to have it replaced?? Ive been looking for a place to do this!!!!

 

2 weeks after I purchased my 780, the egr's stuck open and derated the engine. I had them both replaced at 800 each plus labor and of course they then said the cooler needed to be replaced. Since then I've heard of guys blocking them off or as my mechanic said "hammer it shut and tack weld it". Had I known that then I could have saved thousands.

 

I was at the Louisville truck show in 2012 and saw a vender had an volvo EGR cooler on the table, I ask him, what dose his company do. They cut it open and weld stainless steel rods in it, it will last all most for ever !

Just got #2 egr replaced. $1429 all in. Volvo in Yakima, WA.

 

I went into volo last week and asked how much they would charge to change my air dryer they said 3 hours at $145 a hour. I was parked over night and a toad service guy happen to be on the property charge me $30 for 20 min of work. Volvo service sucks who would pay or lease $150k on a Volvo.
