I've been running big road eld for a couple of weeks now to try and get used to working with it, so far it was working out ok, still runnin paper logs though. Then it started locking up, not responding, I'm going to find out how good their tech support is now, gonna give them a chance to see if they resolve the problem before I bad mouth their product, hopefully they can come up with a solution, seem like nice enough people. I just get the feeling this is just the beginning of all the headaches with elds, My smart phone pisses me off too much already with all the updates changing #### around causing half the apps not work right. that's why I thought running elds on a separate tablet would be better. elds are way to dependent on technology that still has to many bugs in it, this is just the tip of the iceburg that sunk the titanic
eld crapping out already

I wish you luck. I'm a company driver and have been using Omnitracs systems for about 4 years now at two different outfits. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to have a lot of issues like you describe with many of these "pop up" eld providers and suppliers that came up overnight looking to capitalize on the proposed mandate.
These are not something that you can afford to cheap out on or take a chance with untested technology and support. If you continue to have problems and can't get it resolved I recommend anyone seriously consider using proven technology such as Omnitracs. I'm assuming it's more money up front and monthly, but you get what you pay for.
But as you mention, I can't recommend going eld with any "tablet" system that runs on Android and questionable hardware. You need to go with a system that has dedicated OS and the updates are only centered around supporting one app ... the elog app, and is also built on a rock-solid proven board and chip set.Hogleg, Dieselboss and Just passing by Thank this. -

I wouldn't use a cell phone with DashLink. Get a separate tablet with it's own data plan, preferably Verizon. That's what I have, a Samsung.
Tablet sits on the nice soft passenger seat, no real impact affecting it. The comment about the RM not being able to withstand the bouncing is true. My former company used them and I really can't recommend them at all.Last edited: Nov 29, 2017

You know with Big road and keep truckin you can keep it an AOBRD for 2 more years....
The tablet is the way to go.....Not on my phone! -
I am using cheapest tab from Wall-Mart . not using Bluetooth, it's hardwired. KT eld works without any errors or problems. My second device is Gorilla and does not have hardwire option. Sometimes in the morning no way to connect it. The tab sees many Bluetooth devices around and freezes sometimes.

People bad mouth Omnitrac for the price. I had the MPC 50 it was labeled Qualcomm still. But they have some special stuff. Like the LCD screen is a special display that could work all day up to 130F. You know how hot the cab can get in summer in Phoenix AZ when parked. It was $700 but they are built pretty good. They need a rest button maybe Omnitrac has one now.
Oxbow Thanks this.
