I think customers are going to have to allow for trucks to spend more time at their property if they refuse to speed up their time to load or unload. We can plan for say 2 hours or so, but when it sometimes ends up taking 4 or 5 hours and you are now either leaving when short on your 14 and will not be able to go straight through to delivery say 300 miles away. So what will we do? I will wait at shipper for a longer time and make it look like an 8 or 10 hour break (little to no sleeping actually happens) and then begin my 14 hour day so I can keep the customer happy. Yay safety!

You can call me an idiot for operating like this and that is fine, but it won't just be me, I'm sure there will be plenty of drivers with enough foresight to see they must delay beginning their 14 hour work day in order to meet appointment times. Big company drivers just keep driving whenever it says you can and get 200 miles down the road and then call your dispatch and force your dispatcher to adjust your appointment time to a time that suits your schedule. Tell that customer they will receive you 10 hours later that Friday, outside of their operating hours. Then expect layover pay when you are told you have to wait til Monday. Someone explain to me how that makes sense. And don't try to tell me that I am going to tell my customers how it goes (all the while they are already paying me a premium rate) and expect that not to go over like a lead balloon. Ya ok.

And as far as your pay to park
Frankly that is a load of dog poop.
Parking demand MAY increase, you don't have to patronize that business and it is their right as the property owner to charge any amount they please.
A lot of places where some family run business is slow but people won't go there because the shower is old or the parking lot has a pothole here or there or maybe their diet only has room for subway and dennys. Just keep chipping away at one part of what made the USA an awesome country - small businesses of every kind. Keep going to wal mart when home and only spending money at pilot when on the road and the other major chains. Don't complain when every space at every major chain is pay to park because the independent couldn't make it. Maybe you could write a handwritten letter to your overlord Jimmy Haslam and ask him to build more parking. Why should he? He already gets all your money now and a bigger parking lot would just cost him more money to build and higher property tax without even getting into the general public being against truck stops in the first place let alone expanding them.

Since they introduced paid parking I try not to spend money at Pilot/FJ.I still HAVE to fuel there so I am using their showers and points though. The problem is that I don't really have time to stop at 2 different places.Take yesterday, just outside Charlotte NC ,Pilot was packed, there was not a single spot open at 6 PM.I went to QT just .5 mile down the road. Huge lot and plenty of room,I was glad to spend my money there.

I was thinking the same thing. On top of that, since when did you have to take a course to become a trainer? LOL . LMAO ... I have trained I can't tell you how many drivers over the past 26 years. And I sure didn't need a course to do it. And another thing, most of the so-called trainers these days barely have if even that a Year's experience theirselves..
