I had couple more brokers push me through this week. Busy spot market does wonders. On the other side when market is slow and 10 carriers call for every posted load, brokers can afford to pick and choose
ELD LIVE TRACKING/HIGHWAY??? Brokers locked me out.

Owner-operators: Highway 'overstepping' with carrier onboarding? | Overdrive https://search.app/2zgYRMgs6AmyBJAr9
Look at this crap
TheLoadOut and Siinman Thank this. -
Thats exactly what it is being used for. Another tool to get us to race to the bottom. In 5 years pretty much every load out there for common trailer types will be and remain <$2 a mile. Brokers using tools like Highway are gaining more and more market share of the freight thats out there. this trend isn't going to end.

Somewhere I read a guy stated he had second thoughts about the ELD password to his personal ELD... He wasn't under load at the time. He said he went on his ELD and changed his password. Highway contacted him immediately and said you changed your password, you have to give us the new password. He refused and they blocked him from hauling. He was curious how they new he changed his password minutes after making the change. He found Highway made themselves administrators on his ELD account so they'd be notified of any changes to his account!

here is the second part of the overdrive article. It’s a lengthy read, but pretty good.

Macropoint, Project 44, TT, 4 Kites, etc. have been collecting and collating ELD data for years. With the rise of AI companies like Highway, Brokers now have the insights to use that info long side the latest buzzword, "dynamic pricing" to control freight rates based on real time capacity numbers. You old timers think for a minute: Remember when it would take weeks for a rate to move on a particular lane? Now it's next day. Coincidence? I think not. If you think freight rates are coming back, you're in for a shock. Do you think shippers and brokers are going to take their foot off your neck while you're already down? I wouldn't.

This thread reminds me how thankful I am to live in a bubble of small town, direct regional work. I feel for you guys having to put up with this crap. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place!
Opendeckin, Cleduskenworth, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
You are. If you can work either local or regional for one or a few direct shippers, it is so much more rewarding than working for a bunch of 3pl. There are some good 3PL out there, but if you’re primarily using the Spot market many times you tend to use quite a few brokerages. And that small hometown feeling gets stripped away quickly.Opendeckin Thanks this.

Interesting. I've never changed my password. I just did. We'll see what happens.FullMetalJacket, Siinman, The_vett and 1 other person Thank this.

Changed my password several days ago. No call, no problem. I haven't been booking freight but did talk to one of my regular brokers a couple days ago that uses Highway so I asked him about my status and he said all good.Siinman and FullMetalJacket Thank this.
