It's also about further taking over of the industry by the Feds. They're taking over everything like the education system, media, transportation and monetary systems. Read a little Red poison by Marx, Engles, Trotsky and Lenin and I promise you it will all be crystal clear.

Drive won't be able to drive to truck stop and park without setting the ELD off. It like 2.5 miles driving and the ELD will automatically put you on driving. That will start the 14 hour clock.

Just drive your truck down the shoulder of the road at 5 mph so you don't set the E-log off like I see guys doing. Yeah that's safe.

I don't believe you can just drive unlimited miles slow. Most ELD are setup for 2.5 miles. Why not work on solving the problem. Like not going in to get loaded or unloaded if we don't have enough hours. Things might change and they will unload or load truck within 2 hours.

This is what I will be doing IF I continue trucking in january 2018.

I will not spend the night at shipper/receiver locations only because it benefits the ELD rules.

If I have 8am appointment in a big city. I will still leave early, starting the 14 hour clock, so I don't have to drive during rush hour. That will hurt my bottom line I'm sure.

If I run out of hours at a shipper/receiver because they took to long. I will still drive to a truck stop for the night.

I will not RACE around trying to meet appointments just because my hours are tight on an ELD. They will have to wait for their product.

Looks like an ELD will eventually put me out of business sooner or later when I get inspected by the DOT or, when carriers don't like the way my ELD operates.

No reason for drivers to get messed up. If they can't load or unload in reasonable time. Then we can come back the next day or charger detention or both.. shippers and receivers may have hire more people if need. They are all kinds of solutions.

I have actually gained making the switch. Instead of showing everything in 15 minute blocks, I am able to log it as I do it. On average, I save roughly 1 1/2 hr per week of my 70.
9 minutes to do a pre-trip, 7 minutes to pump fuel alone saves 15 minutes per day. If I show 10.9 hrs of drive time vs 11, that will save an additional 6. Right there is a legitimate 20 minute per day savings. Do that 6 days and you have an additional 2 hrs of your 70.
    That's 120 more billable miles a week.
