I can assure you that’s not the case here. I eat lunch with one 3x a weekDave_in_AZ Thanks this.

For those that say DOT leaves Eloggers alone, I believe you. Its early to tell yet, but I have noticed a new discrimination against my pre 2000 trucks. When They can’t find a problem with HOS, they make an extra effort to find a niggling issue elsewhere. It used to be “you keep this Truck in nice shape”. Not anymore
Opendeck and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
In all my years of driving ... never been inspected as an elogger. 2 times was asked to show my hours , took about 3 seconds in total. Im to the point where i see weigh stations as nothing more than that , weigh stations. Oh and places that do inspections on paper loggers.

Elogs was possibly one of the best things to happen on our companies side.

Like I said, I believe it. They might be doing their best to force me into Elogs for my pre emission trucks just by discriminating against paper logs.

Ahhh, I see. Lunch counter contractors stretch the truth just like truck drivers do

Right. There is not all that higher demand for capacity, as much as I can see. So the rates here are nothing to be ecstatic about The question is, if the capacity itself changed due to Elogs. Still, someone could say, that if there were no ELogs, I could only see rates of less than 2$ a mile... To some extent for sure, though as far as I remember the number of trucks posted in this area is not all that different as in the pre ELD era, though I never really took exact notes of that. If there was a real ELD impact, it would first manifest itself right here in the "White Volvo" land.

If it is true, however, that the rates are great then maybe I should revise my expectations. My first year (2017) as an independent was miserable when I averaged 1.62 on all miles.
I'd settle for business netting of 100K out of 100 miles a year as a good year. This profit demands a gross of 180-200k in my case. As of today I am at 2.23 on all miles and 2.82 on loaded miles, and that is gradually going down....which worries me. But already I am almost 3/4 of my total business net of the whole 2017. So in a way it is a sky better than what I had last year, however, I'd like to think this has nothing to do with ELDS but me doing things somewhat different. -
While he constantly goes way over the top, the basic point is valid. Every business in every industry has a ton of regulations.jamespmack, tucker and rank Thank this.
