Yeah I saw that. I had my first inspection since the Elog enforcement went hard by some young Fck. The little NY prick gave me 4 violations. I have never had 4 violations ever. One of them was for brake lights not working but the spring brakes hadn’t released yet after I fanned the service brakes down. I showed him they were working later but he still wrote me up.....said they were shorting out. Another for forgetting to write the commodity on the previous days log and another for not having a reverse lamp on a 32 yr old truck. I think he thought I was an outlaw and he was going get me
ELD Mandate....Any O/O's left the business because of it?

Spot market rates are a lot higher . Definitely don't want to lease onto a flat rate per mile carrier . They are making a killing paying $1.20 a mile to leased on trucks while enjoying the high rates.Finding good drivers is very hard all over. The rates are a perfect storm of the ELD mandate, the good economy, the infrastructure bill ,and a driver shortage due to many reasons ,one of them an aging driver population ,many drivers are in their 50's (I'm 53) ,60's and older and some ,not many have left due to the ELD's. It's hard finding young people who want to be drivers. I started in 1986 working with my father .We made money and had a good time doing it. If I started today with a Prime ,JB Hunt etc ,I wouldn't last a week with their non sense.spyder7723, bzinger, Tug Toy and 3 others Thank this.

You are a employee or idiot if you dont see it as a goverment over reach. I cant justifiy any expense if it doesnt add saftey or revenue. Someday when you put on your big girl panties and have skin in the game you will understand. If you do have skin in the game and still dont get it. Im sorry your a snoflake.gokiddogo, Mattflat362, Justrucking2 and 3 others Thank this. -
I had the same experience. Little man with a new badge acting like your a criminal and it's his job to get you. They love going for the ABS light on the dash, most don't work right for long. Reverse lights ,and license plate lights are another favorite. The real pricks check the air pressure in all your tires and check for 5th wheel play.Another favorite in PA is checking for steering universal joint play.
I had one of the Orange jump suit clowns level 1 me for almost 2 hours and write me 3 , 1/8 th inch out of brake adjustment violations on my trailer that had all brand new shoes, drums, cans and slack adjusters. The trooper even shook his head and didn't write me any tickets after I adjusted them . Sometimes the Orange jump suit guys are worse, trying to impress the troopers they are working with ,with how many violations they can write you for.gokiddogo, MagnumaMoose, Mattflat362 and 4 others Thank this. -
+1. Small one time fee + a small monthly fee? What about the office staff that has to email the stupid logs to the scale house? How freaking insane is that system? Works great for the ATA companies that have staff for that. But then that’s what Elogs are all about isn’t it? The ATA. What a Fn joke. Used to be Americans had balls but now they’re just a bunch of ####### taking it deep like all the other corrupt third world nations. Hell if it wasn’t for Trump there’d be 1,000,000 trucks all doing 65 mph now. Another brilliant ideaLast edited: May 16, 2018

I agree . Clueless....."
There are so many variables in my day that can cause delays that throw any down to the minute trip planning out the window. As far as Cheating on paper logs ,adjusting a paper log to account for an unforeseen delay in your day is no more illegal than doing 56 mph in a 55 zone.
Have you done it? We all have ,should we have speed data loggers that DOT can plug into to?
Where does it end......Last edited: May 16, 2018

How can $8,800 be your break even point each week?
If you took a week off who would you pay 8,800 dollars to?UsualSuspect Thanks this. -

looking back to when I first started technology really has taken the fun out of the industry. . cell phones .. .. e logs .... computers ..... even the whole cdl system. ..... are the roads any safer than they were in 1980 I don't think so ..... cell phones have caused a lot more accidents then all the others combined. ... the cdl thing did clean up a few things ... you don't pull into a truck stop and hear it blasting out about nose candy .. in fact you rarely hear anything on the radio at all seems like it is old fashioned to know the road is blocked a mile ahead ... and for some of you younger guys by radio I mean cb .... it is was a way for truckers to communicate with each other in another era ... hate to get off subject lol ..... anyways technology has a price and that price is freedom with every advance in technology we lose a little more freedom not just in trucking but in every thing
singlescrewshaker and Justrucking2 Thank this. -
I know of a few that have left the industry and or sold their equipment. These are company drivers and O/Op's. I was doing fine until I had to in frame the truck again, ELD or not.
