How does that work at shippers? Can you tell them to get bent forcing you off the property with that little regulation there. Seems that should be the actual way it works...but real life...

 

This should be a solid rule.
Shippers and receivers need to be more regulated as they are the root cause of most of these detention problems and being forced off site when you need to rest for safety.

They should all be required to reasonably accommodate a driver needing a safety break.

Also, they should be required to document detention whether you're in a dock door or not, with a stipulation of allowing X amount of hrs before they have to document an excessive unload/load, detention time.

Everyone likes to regulate us to death, it's time they got to taste it. I really think it would help fix these issues.

 

You're not going to get the Feds mandating truck drivers be allowed to stay on private property, and that's what a shippers yard is.

 

They can mandate on private property if they really want to.., like OSHA can.
Workplace safety.

Something has to be done to stop this dangerous merry go round with shippers and receivers.
It should be reasonable too, generally for the companies shipping more than 100 loads a year or something
