I spilled water on my steering wheel, and now my horn won't stop going off. I tried disconnecting it at the steering wheel, but it still kept going off. I then tried pulling the fuse, but to my dismay, that fuse also controls the my cruise control and instrument cluster, so that won't work because I won't be able to know my speed while driving. I'm hoping it dries out by the time I need to hit the road and it will be fine, but if not, I'll need to disconnect the horn some other way if possible. Any suggestions?

disconnect the wire at the horn itself.
how often does that horn get used anyways. vs. the air horn. -
I don't really know where the actual horn is.

Does your truck have airbags? If not, just open up the steering wheel. You could also find where the electronic horn actually is and cut the wire there.

Truckinchic, WitchingHour and magoo68 Thank this.

"Maybe I am just blowing my own horn" but don't you need that horn during an inspection? I can not specifically remember, but I think you're required to have a "city" horn & it gets checked in roadside, Level 1 & Level 2 inspections.
Therefore, I wouldn't suggest unplugging or disconnecting it for any length of time.
Correct or not? -
Its shorting out..Try to get it fixed before cutting any wires..last thing you need is a truck fire caused by shorting out wires..even though it started after you spilled water on your steering wheel , something else could be the cause. Water could have kicked it off, but have it checked.

I wasn't really able to do that because I was parked near other trucks where drivers were sleeping, plus it was dark. Anyways, I guess it dried while I was sleeping because I put the fuse back in and it's not going off now.

You're correct. I was told during an inspection that anything that you have on your truck even if it's not something that you're required to have, has to be in working order.
