Sounds like they inspected north bound side and routed traffic thru the south bound side.
They should have inspected the south bound side and probably would have found the problem before someone died.

20 years ago I remember telling a friend that this country would go down the pooper. The 2 ways to prove it would be terror attacks on our soil just like in the middle east and our rails and roadways failing like in India. I know now that it is true.Prof.Gringo, Hulld and All4Safety Thank this. -

Looks like the Feds are entering into the investigation as well.
Feds investigating death of trucker in Pennsylvania Turnpike tunnel -
I'm going to say this about the fact the driver drove through the tunnel and brought his truck to a safe stop even though he was "instantly killed":
Brain function continues even after apparent death.
I remember reading years ago a trucker that had a medical emergency, the first thing he wanted to know after "coming to" was whether he had hit anyone. I think the trucker continued functioning at a primal level, and saved lives bringing his rig to a stop.
This job is fundamentally dangerous. If you are a consummate professional, you are always considering the lives of everybody around you.BoostedTeg, Mattflat362, 4mer trucker and 4 others Thank this. -

Hope your family owns that Tunnel. -
As a PA resident (taxpayer) and a driver that has to take the turnpike, I hate that this is all going to end up being a blank check written to the family paid for by us.
When are we going to start holding government employees CRIMINALLY NEGLIGIBLE?
What 6-7 figure Turnpike exec is gonna get perp-walked?
Why AREN'T we going over the maintenance supervisor's logs/reports with a fine toothed comb?
And what's being done to stop the NEXT incident from happening?!?
Nope, it'll be 2-3 years in courts, a quarter million in fees for the various lawyers, a write off for the insurers and a "petty cash" check from the taxpayers to the family.Mattflat362 Thanks this.
