elog/per diem documenting

    I read in another post where a driver got audited and couldn't show logs to document per diem claims. How do y'all document when on elog? Keep paper logs too? I keep a journal of miles/hours/where overnight but don't know if that would stand up for tax purposes if audited.

    Pay stubs may not reflect where the driver was. Mine only showed load numbers.

    What system are you using? You should contact your carrier or the eLogs provider for a per diem report.

    Yes, print out your elogs,but the IRS will generally accept a diary...
    year/month/day/location of your 10hr/what time you got home and what time you left home, etc.

    Putting the load # in the diary will help cross-reference your diary with your trip sheets and your settlement sheets.
