The average driver here couldn't understand those rules let alone figure out how to work with in them. They do look to be almost perfect for those of us with a brain. Unfortunately we are the minority and rules are written for the majority.

That right there is the problem. There taught to be drivers.

If your lucky enough to be taught by the right person/people no matter what country your in you shouldn't learn to be a driver. You should learn and practice being a TRANSPORT ENGINEERING PROFFESIONAL.

    Why engineer?
Because at times you have to have to put your truck where it just shouldn't fit but we make it happen.

Because we move The most delicate to the largest products/parts on the planet. SAFELY AND WITHOUT DAMAGE. most of the time.
There are occasions that stuff gets damaged. But 99% it's the guys loading and unloading.

I was taught at a young age by my old man so I was lucky I knew and was taught old school before I even got to do a licence test. #### I remember showing a "safety officer" on a job site how to tie Down an elevator shaft using a rope. He had no idea what a sheepshank/truckers hitch was....
Unfortunately nearly all drivers that go thru these schools probably don't even know how to tie a shoelace let alone a decent knot.

It's a pity I don't like him or talk to him because I remember some of the stories of stuff he was doing in the 80'S before he got Into car carrying.

There's nothing vague about it if you read the actual rule and not an interpretation written by a bureaucrat.

It clearly uses the term "model year". Period.

The attached pic is from Page 75 of the final rule.

    Wtf?

    Thats just being ridiculous.

Doing all that in the name of what?
Remember, not all humans are alike. What might work for you isnt always gonna work for someone else and vice versa.

Thats the whole problem with the ELD regs. One size does not fit all. Period.

The driver said they didn't want to drive at night, that's not ELD making the limitation in those hours. There's still plenty of wiggle room, but I prefer being able to shut down early so that parking is easier to find.

This is very nearly what I do on a regular basis. Not because I don't like driving after midnight but because it is THE best way for ME to get the best nights sleep. So yeah I fudge my logs in the name of safety.

As to my knowledge glider trucks use older truck vin, you cannot downgrade new truck to preemission engine, so would the glider trucks be exempt? ?

No because it's still registered as a 2017 or whatever year it is.
