Not sure if you are an o/o or not, but I was a company driver and they sent my logs every quarter.
ELogs how are you saving your logs for tax purposes?

i noticed my qcomm has a sd card slot in the box where all the wiring is. im not computer smart but would this help copy info
-
Chances are that card slot is for tech support reasons, much like the USB inputs on most cable boxes these days. Maybe I'm wrong. Only one way to find out though.

People net and Teletrac are on the web, Q.C. can be faxed no charge to number of your choice, Q.C. email has to be carrier activated and paid for.
If I claim the per diem then I keep the log with the return. If you're audited then you MUST produce the logs to support the claim if the claim is questioned. -

i can print you summary for a test driver for a per diem report, I'm thinking that will satisfy your tax guy.

To the OP on Qualcom E logs. They keep them on the qualcom site for 3-6 months. All you have to do is go to that site before they disappear and have a PDF file of your logs sent to your computer. I do it monthly. Save them in a folder on your computer and back that up with a thumb drive, external HD or in the cloud. At the end of the year you will have all of your logs in one file that you can burn to CD to keep with your tax records. Its much easier than keeping up with all that paper.
tdcanterbury67 and chalupa Thank this. -
and have a PDF file of your logs sent to your computer.....
Never thought of that....always printed and stored, thanks ! -
As Roadmedic said ... the IRS will only require documentation. You could also use your statements if they show where you were.
Also, as for running paper or DDL along with your elogs, some may interpet that as running 2 log books. -
The logs are the basis of any IRS deductions, the IRP can audit up to 7 years but that is not normal. If you logs are a basis for your IFTA returns and/or your IRP application, the recordkeeping requirement is 4 years.
