Our company is thinking about doing away with paper logs and are just looking for some feedback on what everyone is using and how well it's working. We have looked at Drivers Daily Logs, JJ Keller Encompass, and Qualcomm. Has anybody used any of these methods and if so how do you like them and how well do they work? We are also going to be getting all drivers hot spots and printers so they can scan to the office and receive paperwork without the hassle of waiting in line at truck stops which for most of them is a huge hassle as 20% of the time they pay get down the road and then find out it never went through. All feedback is much appreciated.

easiest system I've seen for drivers is Webtech Wireless, PeopleNet is pretty cool for the office staff and if you fully upgrade the units in the truck they're pretty easy for drivers. As far as the other communication goes, I've never worked at a company that was forward thinking enough to put that much technology into a truck just to increase driver comfort.

I'm really interested in what it would take to automate the logging (or at least make it computerized), mostly on a vehicle computer (yes, I mean, PC, windows or linux or android).

We use Qualcomm for communication and elogs. You can fix mistakes on the Qualcomm from the driver's seat if you so choose to let the drivers. Not driving time, BTW, but on duty/ off duty/ sleeper berth stuff. Anything else the office must do. Simple system with very few problems.

I liked Qualcomm it was easy to use, unlike people net wich took a very simple thing and made it very complicated.
