Tool kits are nice but be sure you have the correct tools. IE: if changing belts on a Series 60 you may need both SAE and Metric wrenches. A little checking before hand may be a life saver. Hose clamps can be from 1/4 and larger. . some even metric.
macjones5254 Thanks this. -
Best wishes to you and your Hubby macjones5254: I carry to much stuff but it all gets used eventually. These guys have listed about everything. I carry a set of T bolts to cage the brake cans. Try getting those bolts out of an old brake can... saves alot of frustration in a time of need.
I also carry quite a selection of brass air fittings. That way i usually have the one fitting i need. I carry a bunch of different caps and plugs to be able to plug any line on the truck.
All this stuff everyone has listed here takes alot of money and it all takes valuable space. Sooner or later, you will be glad you have it.
I am fairly generous when i see a guy side of the road or in a truck stop trying to fix his truck. If i have some little part he can use, it is his. I hope when he sees someone else side of the road, he will pay back the favor.
Again, all the best in the new business.....macjones5254, TURKER and Mooch Thank this. -

Dont have to carry the whole kit, just one of each size and type. Then you have the kit to replace it with, when you get home.
probably get booted for posting a link, but so be it. Not selling anything, just trying to help...macjones5254 Thanks this. -
For those of you that offered real advice, sans the smart alec remarks, thanks so much, especially stepnfetchit. This will be a great start!

Get the Mag Charger. It still gives you the baseball bat effect and 30,000 candlepower for around $100. Or the Streamlight UltraStinger (75,000 Candlepower and still good for a headknocker.)
As for items that I see on a daily basis, extra air hoses, compression fittings for when you have those OOS days. Spare fuses and bulbs can save you some serious $$, instead of calling road service. General tool kit is worth is weight in gold.
The problem I see is a lot of driver's don't have the knowledge to do anything on a truck. I had one on friday tell me "Look, I just drive em. I don't know what to do." The old truck driver's could work on anything and get it going again. But the driver's from back in the day are a dying breed.macjones5254 Thanks this. -
You are on the money with that one DB. I take pride in getting a truck home when something happens to it. Had a tow bill once, #### computer went. Wasnt much fixing that side of the road.... -
bailing wire and duct tape.
