So I've been hauling refer (company driver) for a small company out of SLC for six months now.
They have 7 leased on o/o's and 3 company drivers.
I have noticed that the owners wife, who handles payroll, has failed to include the following important info on my paystubs:
1. CPM
2. Miles driven during pay period, (both empty and loaded)
3. Deductions for cash advances.
4. Reimbursements for purchases I have made that are truck related.
5. Detention pay.
6. Layover pay.
7. Extra stop pay.
The only thing listed is my gross, my net and federal, state, SS deductions.
So what I want to know are there anyone else out there that has experienced the same suspicious payroll practice?
Please share...
Is there an agency I can report this, in the event they decide to fire me when I call them out on this BS?
My previous requests for this info have fallen on deaf ears..

That's all that needs to be on there. What makes you think that things like CPM need to be on your post stub?
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
My hourly wage as well as hours worked are on my stub. Any deductions for 401, medical, xmas club etc are also listed as they should be.

Oh my gosh. I would have real problems with that too. Do you remember filling out a W4 for this outfit? I hope they are paying their weekly withholdings to the appropriate jurisdictions. These kinds of outfits make me nervous. I worry they are withholding all these taxes but not paying them (pocketing them) only for you to get a bad surprise next year if you [or they] are still there at that time. Good luck. If they can't even go to Best Buy and buy Quickbooks Payroll and itemize the pay items like they should ...
Does it "feel" like you're being paid what you're owed?12 ga and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Yes I did fill out a W-4.
I think they are legitimately deducting my taxes. I'm just not sure if I'm getting paid for the miles I've driven, detention, and reimbursements for truck related expenses.
What ever happened to transparency and accountability?
I mean seriously, I didn't know I'm required to trust a any mom and pop company, like we are on the honor system.
In any event, I've worked for this company six months.
Six months is for me, a probationary period to see if a company is worth my time and effort.

Stay classy ChaoSs -
Whatt company is that? I live in SLC. Bouncing around every 6 months is also a FAIL. No one wants to hire someone that won't stick around.
-
I don't want to give out that info while I'm still employed with them.
I don't exactly bounce around as you put it.
I was laid off from my last employer due to financial hardship.
Before that, I hauled production water in heavy tankers in the oil patch of North Dakota. We all know how that turned out.
So I don't necessarily start with a company with the intention of quitting after six months. But if I feel there are some shady business practices going on..ie forced dispatch on loads that require me to violate my HOS, in order to make my appointment, then eventually I'm going to look elsewhere after a certain point in time.Last edited: Apr 5, 2016

You talk about calling them on it and reporting it, have you tried asking them about it? Just let them know that you would appreciate getting a breakdown of what you are making? -
Make sure your check is close to what you already know it should be
Never violate the law for the company, if anything goes down, they won't even know what you're name is.... So you're butt will burn alone on the stake
They could care less about your cdl or if you catch them stealing from you
