One of my former Soldiers is currently living up in Exeter, NH area and has his CDL but he is having problems finding work due to his age. He said because 23 companies won't take him due to his age and insurance. He completed training a few months back and went to Schneider for training but was sent home due to an issue with his eyes. He has that corrected and is ready to work. Anyone know of any companies that would take him even though he is 23? He says he will do OTR, regional or local doesn't matter.

They require one year OTR. I should have mentioned he has no driving time yet. Basically straight out of school.

If he had it corrected, Schneider should take him back, yes?

I believe he had a bad experience due to the eyes issue. He seemed upset about it but I didn't ask details. I'll ask him about going back.

Advise him to not lease a truck; be a company driver only. Some companies offer lease and talk about it during orientation, but it's a voluntary program only.

He says they won't take him back until he gets glasses he doesn't need glasses. Not required on his license or DOT card.
