To the op, these companies have to ask you for your work record fmcsa rules, you other past employment should not really count, asking for w2 and all of that is bullsh******.

I have strict hiring policies, but I don't ding people for not working.

So I had someone like you apply for a drivers position. He applied before he did his road test. He had part time and no employment so I asked him which grandparent did he take care of, then I'd note that and then asked him if his lawn cutting business was successful and I'd note that, so on.

    You get what I'm saying?

Get a good story, add it to the part time work you did, and stick to the story no matter what.

If I remember correctly, an amazingly dumb texting abbreviation.

My time accounting goes back to birth.

The last 15 years or so for myself is summed up in two sentances, parttime caregiver, medical patient. Nothing else.

Sometimes I wonder what I have done to throw away 15 years fixing what's broke either on myself or someone else.

Feel free to fabricate anything to comply with their dumb rules with a clear conscience.

It pisses me off to no end that we allow companies to judge us for taking some time off. Europeans shake their heads in disbelief at our 3rd world worker policies and they should.

So I took off three months three years ago. Why is it a big deal you fools? So I wasn't living paycheck to payckeck and paying on a 30 year mortgage and new car payments and credit card debt.. I could afford to thats why. Maybe I had cancer do you want to see the medical records? Oh you cant do that because of hippa.. So yeah it was cancer. Fools

I tell you what, we (Or spouse rather) bought a home and a little land. I come along and marry. Now we were homeowners with a whole lot of this and that to take care of. The first bill we paid off were the appliances, I think it was 1500. Poof. Paid. (Same thing again 12 years later when new replacement appliances came in, cash only paid this time totaled about 4600.) We grew food many years and sometimes usually had too much so we shared with others. Anything else that was a debt was usually paid off. The only thing required was to pay the Tax once a year on the property. About 160 on the place and another 90 on the vehicles. The revenuers got theirs.

I can say that compared to the east, we were free. We left the place way better than it ever was. It did take a great deal of money. But eh, you can always get more money. It's the rules that are the problem once you start living within a frame work of them.

I have often wondered about the history of 391.23. Not only 391.23 but all the 391.2x series rules. They are NOT a 911 reaction and even predate the CDL law and the FMCSA. I see the rules as far back as the Federal Register in 1970. I am guessing now but I imagine back then it was an attempt to keep dangerous drivers from job hops. One of the reasons behind the new CDL law was drivers sometimes had multiple licenses. I am old enough to remember trucking through most of the 60s and all of the 70s. Back then very few drivers paid any attention to the HOS rules and used (pills) to stay awake. While I still think it was the golden age of trucking in some regards it was much more dangerous.than today. Maybe one day I can find out more till then all I can tell you about 391.23 is the FMCSA is serious about these records and have a history of busting carriers if these records are missing or not complete.
