    Hey all,
Im new to truck driving, finished school Aug. 2nd and trying to get on with a company. The hold up is employment verification. My last employer is taking its time filling out and sending back the verification form that was faxed to them from the Trucking company/companies im applying with.
When called each time, my last employer tells them "Oh contact human resorces", "contact payroll" or "we are waiting for the safety manager to finish it. This has gone on a couple of weeks now. I have the pay stubs. The work was legal with all the taxes and appropriet deductions taken out.
My Questions are: Is this faxed verification letter they only way to verify my employment?
What if they choose never to verify my employment?
Does this mean i'll never get a trucking job?
BTW the employment was 6 weeks of driving class "A" TT tankers.
Thank you for any advice or help you can give.

Pay stubs should suffice but the company your trying to get hired with decides that. Good Luck been there done that myself. It sucks but it's in their hands.

I would think they could do it with a phone call. My wife verifies prospective employees for the company she works for and they do it all by phone. I guess it's up to the company you're applying at. Might want to ask them about it.

    Thanx for the replies !!
The company asking for the verification form is Trans-System. They have called but i guess over the phone verification was not good enough or not enough information was given. Other companies that have already scheduled an orientation for me are Werner, Swift and Squire. They are also working on verification, but what form of verification is exceptable to them i dont know. So im worried about being sent home for lack of verification. I will attend Squire orientation starting monday. The lesser of the evil's i think.:smt011

I was getting the runaround from a former employer as well. I had to fax some previous tax returns, and that took care of the verification.

what is surprising to me is that a simple call to DAC would verify you worked there. now since this may not have been done, then maybe your (potential) new employer doesn't belong to DAC.......this is one time, you really wished DAC was involved.......
my self, i have 1 particular company, to this day, that WILL NOT verify employment, and they also do NOT report to DAC........!!! and its been 6 years now.......!!!!!!

most "new" employers just step over that former employer and move on, at least with me they have.

W-2 forms would help, in "some" instances.

when ever you apply for jobs, use the corporate office, and give the 800 number (if one is available) then always use HR Dept as the "contact person.

if your company has a corp office that is.......always side step the pions and morons at the local terminal.
