I am in the process of applying to a few companies for CDL training. Does anyone know what type of employment verification they would require for someone that has been self employed?
Over the last 9 years we have owned 2 franchise businesses. Prior to that I worked in the corporate world for 7 years (with one company, easy to verify).
I would like to begin gathering any needed papers, if I knew what the requirements are.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Looking at Central, Swift, Stevens, Prime, and a few others.

Tax returns, for one thing, to verify your self-employment years....someone else with far more experience in this an I will be along....good luck to you!
THBatMan8 Thanks this. -
Tax Returns will suffice for self employment and a quick call to others will do the trick.

Yep tax returns and w2's for any employer that has gone under
also some companies want if you were on unemployment thoese records too -
Yes sir indeed. Bring them all of your 1099's.

Thanks all.
Guess I'll start scanning 9 years of personal and corp tax returns.
(that will be a fun weekend) -

Only company that asked me to verify was May Trucking. They wanted to see copies of my Schedule C (profit or loss) for the last four years or so. In my case, I had to send them copies of Schedule E (partnership).

Tax returns will also verify address history. 2 birds with one stone.

Yep Swift wanted partnership schedules and anything that related to verify employment.
