On an empty clean trailer how many latches are needed to secure the lid? Is it one or all?

Yup close it up tight unless its a fresh HOT wash job then I still close up the dome tight but leave our air off fitting open. Just like to always have the dome and discharge ports closed up at all times.

They need to be clean and dry. Once it's cooled button it up good so rain won't get in it.

Qualcomm yesterday. Stating to close all latches regardless of tank status. When it's clean I normally did two. Loaded all of them. Dirty two. My training was short and I have been doing this for five months. I'm just wondering what DOT rules are on it.

Also on Qual. Someone got a ticket for a leaking tank and not having all the latches closed on a haz load.

Yea my practice is all as tight as you can get by hand. Evenly tighting as you go. Otherwise you can warp domes, collars, and mess up gaskets. Hate when guys take hammers to the ears to tighten the lids. Hot, cold it dosent matter I still do the same with the dome lid but if hot and empty I will leave the air up fitting off and valve open so that the tank can cool without pulling a vacuum.
